Starting a Lone Star project

I'm starting something new:

It's a Lone Star type design, with a semi-scrappy approach inspired by Edyta Sitar's Sunset Star quilt (from Scrappy Firework Quilts).

I've assembled the main star, but I have more diamonds to make (I'm using a "broken star" configuration).  More strip sets ready to be sewn:

After looking at the finished star for a few days, I've decided one of the fabrics is not working for me.  I'm thinking of doing some surgery and replacing four of the small diamonds (a crazy step, I know).  Here's one option:

And here is another:

And here is the original for reference:

I'm leaning towards option A, as it seems to blend best with the other aquas, although I do like the print design of option B.  Which do you prefer?

I'm linking up with Lee for WIP Wednesday.

  1. Your star really caught my eye on the WIP linky. It's just lovely. I like A the best too.

  2. Option a, although I think I like the optional just fine. Honestly it took me a couple of minutes to find the changes. Neat star, I like the scrappiness! Kat @ katandcatquilts.blogspot.com

  5. As a mater of fact, it is a little crazy to replace you diamonds, but a step that you won't regret in the end. If I work on a project, and there is just one small thing about it that bothers me, it always bothers me... and it sticks out everytime that I look at it. The first star is the one that I like the best... the blues just work together better. The second is too stark of a contrast. Really lovely WIP.
